Hard Truth: Screen Time
Privacy policy
The app collects nothing. There's no account, no server, no analytics, no tracking, no ads and no third-party code. What you enter stays on your iPhone.
This policy covers the Hard Truth: Screen Time app for iPhone (called Hard Truth on your home screen) and this website. Both are run by Greez Holdings LLC, a company in the United States ("we" or "us").
The short version
- We don't collect any data through the app. Its App Store privacy label says Data Not Collected.
- The app has no accounts, no server, no analytics, no tracking, no ads and no third-party SDKs.
- Everything you enter is stored only on your iPhone, and you can erase it at any time.
- Nothing is shared unless you tap Share or Save, and then only the image or text you see.
What we collect
Nothing. The app has no server to send anything to, and it contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code. It never asks for your name, email address or an account. Greez Holdings LLC receives no data from the app.
What stays on your iPhone
To work, the app stores what you give it, on your iPhone only:
- Your daily screen time numbers, typed in or read from a screenshot
- Your age or birth year, if you choose to give it
- The interests you pick
- Your path: your daily limit, goals, nightly check-ins, streaks and milestones
- Your settings
This data lives in the app's private storage and in a container the app shares only with its own home screen widgets, so the widgets can show your numbers. iOS keeps both separate from other apps.
If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or a computer, iOS may include this data in that backup, as it does for most apps. Those backups are between you and Apple or your computer. We can't access them.
Screenshots
If you scan a screenshot of Screen Time, you choose it with Apple's photo picker, which gives the app only the image you pick, not your photo library. The app reads the text in it on your iPhone using Apple's Vision text recognition and keeps only the numbers it finds. The screenshot itself is never stored by the app and never uploaded. Your original stays in your Photos library, untouched.
Permissions
Photos, add only
When you tap Save on a share card, iOS asks whether the app may add photos. This permission only lets the app add images to your library. It can't see or read the photos you already have. If you never tap Save, the app never asks.
Notifications
If you turn on nightly check-in reminders, iOS asks whether the app may send notifications. The reminders are scheduled on your iPhone by the app itself. No server sends them. You can turn them off in the app's Settings or in iOS Settings at any time.
The app asks for no other permissions. It doesn't use your location, contacts, camera or microphone, and it doesn't ask to track you.
Sharing
Nothing leaves the app unless you tap Share or Save. When you share, the app hands the image and text you see to the iOS share sheet, or to Instagram Stories if you choose that and Instagram is installed. From there, the app or service you pick handles it under its own privacy policy. We don't receive a copy.
Links to sources
Each truth lists its source. If you tap a source link, it opens in your web browser, and that website's own privacy policy applies.
Apple
Apple runs the App Store and iOS, and its handling of your data is covered by Apple's privacy policy. Apple gives app makers basic App Store figures, such as download counts. If you have chosen in iOS to share analytics with app developers, Apple may also give us aggregated usage statistics and crash reports. These don't include your name, your contact details or anything you entered in the app. You control this in iOS Settings, under Privacy & Security, then Analytics & Improvements.
If you email us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to answer you. We don't add you to a mailing list and we don't share it.
This website
This website sets no cookies and has no analytics, tracking scripts, ads or embedded content from other companies. It's hosted by Netlify. Like any web host, Netlify receives your IP address and browser details when you load a page, so it can deliver the page and protect its service, and it may keep them in its server logs. See Netlify's privacy policy.
Children
The app isn't directed at children under 13. Because we don't collect personal information from anyone, we don't knowingly collect any from children.
Your choices
You control everything the app stores. Change your numbers and settings in the app at any time. To delete all of it, open Settings in the app and tap Erase everything, or delete the app. Because we hold no app data about you, there's nothing for us to look up, correct or delete on our side. If you have emailed us and want that email deleted, ask us at help@greezholdings.com.
Security
Your data sits in the app's private storage on your iPhone, protected by iOS and your device passcode. With no server, there's no copy of it anywhere for anyone to break into.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the app or this website handles data, we'll update this page and the effective date at the top before the change takes effect.
